from the Country Inns in the White Mountains wish their guests sweet
dreams on the second weekend in December, they can guarantee that visions
of sugar plums and holiday cookies will dance in their heads. December
9 and 10, 2006 is the weekend the the Country Inns in the White Mountains
will assure holiday revelers the ultimate sweet dreams with the 10th
Annual Inn–to–Inn Holiday Cookie and Candy Tour held from
11 am to 4 pm each day. Tour participants will not only tour inns decked
in holiday finery offering signature holiday cookies and candies, but
this year they’ll be treated to a display of handmade gingerbread
sculptures, collector’s ornaments, and recipe collections from
each inn. Chosen by editors of New Hampshire Magazine as “The Best
Sugar High”, proceeds from the event will benefit area nonprofit
associations. Each of the seventeen inns on the 10th Annual Inn to Inn Cookie & Candy Tour will feature original holiday cookies, along with exquisite decorations, offering tour goers the bonus of taking home holiday decorating ideas as well as cookies and candy for themselves. The participating inns have developed original recipes for everything from sweet to savory holiday treats, with each inn featuring new recipes for the tour. Additionally, all tour participants will receive a keepsake collectors ornament, intended to be the first in a collection of Cookie Tour ornaments to be distributed in years hereafter. To top it off, tour goers will take home recipes for the treats featured on the tour, creating a keepsake collection of tested holiday cookies and candy recipes to use at home. New this year, the Country Inns in the White Mountains will recruit local businesses to sponsor handmade gingerbread sculptures in honor of their favorite non-profit organization. Businesses who participate will either internally create these sculptures or recruit artists, school groups, chefs or bakers to construct their gingerbread sculpture for the contest. Tour goers will then vote for their favorite, and the winning sculptures will receive $500, $350, and $150 donations for the non-profit organization the sculpture represents. Tour goers will also have the opportunity to win a two-day getaway at the participating inn of their choice. To qualify, siimply visit all the inns on the tour, and drop the entry at the last inn. The tour stretches from Harts Location, to Tamworth, NH and over to Fryeburg, ME, with seventeen inns opening their doors to those in search of a great sugar high. No inn is more than fifteen minutes from the next, with many much closer. Tickets are $25 for the two day tour. Each participating inn will offer two tickets (a $50 value) with their cookie tour package, including a two-night stay, and breakfast for two each day. Some inns have added dinners and cookie baking classes to their packages. Tour tickets are available in advance by reserving a lodging packages from participating inns or select inns on the day of the tour.
